AREX runs two services on the same line. The Express train runs non-stop between the airport and Seoul Station, with reserved seats. The all-stop (commuter) train stops at every station, including Gimpo Airport, Hongik University (Hongdae), Gongdeok, and Seoul Station, where you can transfer to the subway.

Limousine buses go straight to hotels and neighborhoods across Seoul, so they're handy with luggage. Taxis are metered and cost the most, but they're the easiest option late at night or for groups. Incheon Airport says to allow 1–2 hours after landing for immigration when you book any onward transport.

How to get from Incheon Airport to Seoul

  1. Step 1: Pick the option that matches where you're staying

    Staying near Seoul Station? The Express is simplest. Near Hongdae, Gongdeok, or a subway line you'll transfer to? Take the all-stop train. Near a hotel on a limousine bus route? The bus saves you from dragging bags through the subway.

  2. Step 2: For AREX, head to the transportation center on B1

    The trains leave from the Transportation Center on basement level 1 at both terminals. For the Express, buy a ticket at the Express customer service center or machine before boarding. On the timetable we checked, the first Express left Terminal 1 at 5:24 a.m. and the last at 10:48 p.m.; confirm on the AREX site for your date.

  3. Step 3: For the all-stop train, use a transit card

    Buy a prepaid card like T-money at a convenience store or card vending machine, then top it up at a ticket machine. The fares on the AREX site assume a transit card. A single-journey ticket costs ₩100 more, plus a ₩500 deposit you get back at your destination.

  4. Step 4: For a limousine bus, buy the ticket first

    At Terminal 1, ticket booths are inside the terminal next to exits 4 and 9, and outside near exits 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 13. Airport Limousine says ticket holders board first, and at Terminal 2 every route requires a ticket. Each passenger can bring 2 bags for free (under 28 inches and 20kg each), with ₩8,000 for each extra bag.

  5. Step 5: For a taxi, use the official stands only

    Standard taxis to Seoul leave from stands 5C, 6C, and 6D at Terminal 1 and 7C at Terminal 2.
